Every summer thousands of walkers cross northern Spain on foot. Some of them are deeply 11 and carry a small 12 in their bags; others simply want time to think. The road runs past farms and forests, climbs onto open hills, and passes stone 13 built hundreds of years ago. Walkers sleep in cheap hostels and become friends with strangers within a day. Most 14 say the hardest part is not the sore feet but the silence. At the end, a 15 in a brown robe stamps their card at the cathedral door, and many of them stand outside saying nothing at all.
On a hill above the village stands a temple that is more than eight hundred years old. To local people the hill itself is 16 ground, and every visitor leaves their shoes at the gate. Guests are welcome, but they are asked not to 17 during morning prayers. Last winter heavy rain damaged the roof and caused a small 18 in the lower hall. The repair team joined the new beams with wooden pegs instead of 19, because they wanted the building to age as it always has. The work is slow, yet the villagers believe such care will 20 their grandchildren.
